Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough & Half-Baked Projects

Pre-P.S. You're reading day 18 of my 32 days of insights, inspiration, and instigation. (Very informal title). Get the full scoop here. โœจ

How done do you like your cookies?

When I can find a shop that has gluten-free cookies, I'm like a kid on Christmas.

But cookies aren't created equal. I'm not a hard-cookie person. Chips Ahoy never compared to soft homemade cookies.

I want slightly crispy bottoms with gooey centers.

So essentially, half-baked.

Half-baked cookies are delicious.

And while I don't have a dozen half-baked cookies sitting in front of me right now, I do have a bunch of half-baked unpublished posts and projects sitting in the fridge that is my Google Drive chilling until I pull them out to bake them.

Or, share them with you raw.

Did your mom let you eat raw cookie dough as a kid? I might miss eating the dough more than the cookies themselves.

Anyway, today I went to my "half-baked" folder holding a project I started where I've compiled a list of 100+ questions to help you communicate and relate better.

I created questions for when you feel angry, sad, or guilty, when you're being hard on yourself, when you need to get curious, when you want to remember your joy, when you're unsure how to get out of conflict, and more.

Here are five of the questions from the list. I cherry-picked these from the habits and beliefs section because they're ones I've been using lately to check my own mindset.

Here are the questions:

  1. What do I believe to be true about this situation?
  2. What evidence supports this belief?
  3. What habits are perpetuating this belief?
  4. What is an alternative belief about this situation?
  5. If I wanted to change the original belief, what habits would I need to tweak?

Try cooking with them and see how you can turn your thoughts and emotions--the raw ingredients of life--into something that tastes great to you.

xx,
Alyssa

Hey Reader, I feel a little bit nervous as I let my fingertips brush over my pink keyboard for the first time in what feels like eternity. Anyone who teaches about "building an email list" will tell you A) not to ghost your list for 7 months and B) certainly not to announce you have ghosted them for 7 months upon return. Now that I've done both of those things we can get back to the meat of this email. First, hi. If you're opening this to either 1). remember who the hell I am or 2). because...

Planes, presence, and freshly squeezed orange juice Pre-P.S. You're reading day 25 of my 32 days of insights, inspiration, and instigation. (Very informal title). Get the full scoop here. โœจ We made it to Chicago yesterday! After 16 hours of travel, one better-than-usual but still not great airplane meal, three episodes of The Witch Trials of J.K. Rowling, two episodes of Queen Charlotte, 1 hour waiting for our bags, and 45 minutes in a taxi, we stepped foot into our swanky hotel overlooking...

Screw the swear jar; pay someone a quarter every time you say this instead Pre-P.S. You're reading day 22 of my 32 days of insights, inspiration, and instigation. (Very informal title). Get the full scoop here. โœจ I've decided to avoid learning "should" in Spanish. Our house has no swear jar (it'd be full real fast). Instead of policing swear words, we've banned the word "should" from our conversations. So there's really no point in me learning it in Spanish. Should is a far more damaging word...
